Abstract
The objective of this research was to investigate the presence of Brucella sp. in goats from Quito. Lymph nodes and blood were collected from goats slaughtered at the local abattoir and in raw goat milk sold in the streets of Quito. Samples were collected from a total of 300 goats which were analyzed by PCR (lymph nodes and milk) and agglutination test (sera). Our results confirmed the presence of Brucella sp. in the goats sampled during this research: 9.0% in milk (PCR), 8.0% in lymph nodes (PCR) and 17.8% in serum samples (agglutination test).
