ACI Avances en Ciencias e Ingenierías

Authorship

Authorship, contributions, and contributions policy of ACI Avances en Ciencias e Ingenierías

To be considered an author in the journal ACI Avances en Ciencias e Ingenierías, the following four criteria, based on the ICMJE recommendations, must be met:

  1. Have made substantial contributions to the research design, acquisition of funds, analysis, and/or interpretation of the data.
  2. Have participated in drafting or critically reviewing the manuscript for its intellectual content.
  3. Have approved the final version of the manuscript to be submitted for publication.
  4. Accept responsibility for all aspects of the work and ensure that any questions regarding the accuracy or integrity of any part are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Only those who meet all four criteria should be recognized as authors, while those who do not, should be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section. Additionally, authors should be able to identify which co-authors are responsible for specific parts of the work and have confidence in the integrity of their contributions.

The corresponding author will be responsible for communicating with the journal during the review process, ensuring that administrative requirements are met, and remaining available to respond to editorial inquiries, even after publication.

This policy promotes transparency in authorship assignment and shared responsibility among all co-authors.

The journal ACI Avances en Ciencias e Ingenierías does not allow the addition or removal of authors once the editorial process of the manuscript has begun. In exceptional cases where this modification is approved, written consent from the authors whose name will be added or removed must be obtained.

Contributions and acknowledgments

Those who do not meet the four authorship criteria should not be included as authors but should be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section. Examples of activities that, by themselves, do not justify authorship include general supervision of a research group, general administrative support, or assistance in drafting, technical editing, copyediting, or proofreading. Contributors can be recognized individually or collectively under a general heading (e.g., "clinical investigators"), and their contribution should be specified (e.g., "acted as scientific advisors", "critically reviewed the study proposal", "collected data", "participated in the technical editing of the manuscript").
