Abstract

Cocoa bean husks are an abundant waste product that is often discarded despite its valuable bioactive compound content. This study develops a sustainable process, guided by circular engineering principles, to obtain powdered polyphenols through extraction and drying. The study focused on identifying operating conditions that maximize polyphenol recovery, reduce resource consumption, and ensure the stability of the final product. The results show that the proposed process yields a powder rich in polyphenolic compounds with functional properties suitable for integration into cosmetic products. The proposal demonstrates that it is possible to transform agro-industrial waste into a high-value ingredient in line with the demand for sustainable alternatives in the cosmetics industry.
