Abstract

We describe the nest of Golden Grosbeak Pheucticus chrysogaster chrysogaster in forest remnants in the Tumbesian region in Piñas, El Oro province, southwest Ecuador. The nest was parasitized by Shiny Cowbird Molothrus bonariensis.The data obtained extend the breeding season of both species to the dry season in the Tumbesian region. We provide morphometric and descriptive information about the eggs and hatchlings of both species. Finally, we briefly analyze the calls delivered by the adult female and the two nestlings.
