Abstract

Healing Through Remembering is a photographic series in which Eli Farinango embarks on a healing journey in search of her ancestors. It is an intimate history that is woven between conversations with her grandmothers, between emotions and pain. Eli's family migrated to Canada when she was nine years old. Eli grew up coming and going, always halfway between belonging and not belonging. In this work, we listen to Eli converse with herself, with her loved ones and with us. We see her being sought and found in three languages, in different territories and always returning to herself.
