Abstract

This essay presents two moments experienced in two distant territories to reflect on hegemonic narratives imposed upon cultural objects, especially in response to the new exhibition at the National Museum of Archaeology in Guatemala. I visualize the diversity of relationships and histories of these objects and explain how they are silenced in an exhibition that reproduces a national discourse.
