Research, projects, experiences, all the stories that are sought from journalism have a space for discussion in this monographic series. #PerDebate requests and publishes articles of both empirical and theoretical research, as well as conceptual reflection on professional and creative practices, in all areas related to journalism. Topics range from media analysis, media products, technological innovations for information and data management, audience interaction in the digital age, new platforms and journalistic initiatives, among others.

This publication collects presentations and proposals related to the central theme of the X International Congress "Periodismo en Debate" that took place from November 9 to 14, 2020. The central theme of the event was: "Journalism in times of pandemic. Transformation, reinvention, resilience and adaptation for the sustainability of the profession in the future".

This congress responded to the need to innovate in journalism in the midst of an emerging global situation. The event was a space for discussion to learn about the experiences of coverage during the pandemic in Ecuador and the rest of America. In addition, sustainable examples of media entrepreneurship that have emerged and faced deep crises in the traditional media were shown, as well as their approach to disinformation and the infodemic in these times.
