This article is part of a broader research project developed during a master's program, which examines the influence of gender and racial stereotypes on evidentiary reasoning in rape cases. Based on the analysis of 96 rulings from the Court of Justice of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), the study investigates the presence of stereotypes and the role of law in perpetuating them, from the perspective of legal epistemology. We present and discuss the research findings, identifying implicit elements of the prevailing patriarchal ideology and the shortcomings of the justice system in protecting women who report sexual violence.
