Abstract

Chlorostilbon melanorhynchus is a species distributed in Ecuador and Colombia, and little is known about its reproductive biology. In this work we present a nest description and a brief description of the eggs of Western Emerald based on a female that nested in San Pedro Boulevard (Pichincha, Ecuador). The nest was cup-shaped, attached to a branch with spiderwebs and plant fibers. A layer of dry grasses, Asteraceae seeds and moss made up the nest externally. Inwardly it was covered with white cottony fibers. The laying was two white and ellipsoid-shaped eggs. The description of the nest and eggs for this species corresponds with the description of other nests of the same genus.
