Abstract

This academic analysis explores the role of the performativity of the vice presidency in Ecuador, examining it from a historical context to its public perception. The performative nature of political power is reflected in the repetition of political scripts and actions that defined the behavior of 16 vice presidents between 1979 and 2019 in Ecuador's republican history. The document brings these actions into memory, employing performance as a methodology to understand political power and the contestation of representation.
