Focus and Scope
post(s) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually that engages with contemporary debates in cultural studies and artistic practices, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to the study and production of visual culture and contemporary thought across local, regional, and international contexts. The journal is published by the Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ.
The thematic focus of each issue is developed collaboratively by members of the Editorial Committee and invited editors. post(s) emphasizes professional, artistic, and academic praxis, positioning creative practice as a central axis of the publication. In addition to scholarly research articles, the journal provides a platform for experimental and performative forms of writing and knowledge production that expand conventional formats of academic research.
Articles in post(s) are published in English and/or Spanish. Each issue also includes Spanish translations of key texts—originally published in English—that the Editorial Committee considers important for circulation in Spanish-speaking contexts.
The journal is primarily addressed to academic communities engaged in interdisciplinary and post-disciplinary research, as well as to a broader audience interested in examining transformations in contemporary society from the perspectives of critical theory, cultural studies, and cultural criticism.
Publication Frequency
post(s) is published twice a year, with one issue in June and another in December. The journal is open access and available for free download.
Journal Policies

Each issue is organized around a thematic axis whose relevance to contemporary society allows it to be addressed through both formal academic writing and artistic or creative practices, thus functioning as a bridge between theory and practice.
Each volume consists of four sections: Akademos, Radar, Videre, and Praxis.
Section Policies
- Akademos: Academic research articles addressing themes proposed by the guest editor. Occasionally includes translations of texts not available in Spanish. This section undergoes a double-blind peer review process. Length: 5,000–5,500 words, including notes and references.
- Radar: Research articles that function as a barometer of social transformations or behaviors related to the central theme of the issue. This section undergoes a double-blind peer review process. Length: 4,000–4,500 words, including notes and references.
- Videre: Presentation of a visual essay or project created by artists or selected by curators. This section is not peer-reviewed and is commissioned by invitation. Length: variable depending on the proposal.
- Praxis: Essays and reflections on artistic practice written in experimental formats, interviews, or first-person testimonies. These contributions are not peer-reviewed and are published at the discretion of the editors of post(s). Length: up to 2,500 words, including notes and references.
