With brilliance and without borders: the poetic voice of Diamante by Azael Álvarez

The current text establishes an analysis of the genderfluid lyric speaker of Diamante (2019) written by the Ecuadorian poet Azael Álvarez. In the first instance, an investigation of the dispute over gender is carried out and Butler"™s and Hines"™ stances of gender fluidity are explored. This starting point enables the analysis of the construction of the lyric speaker from the rupture of the static grammatical gender, the performative fluidity, the continuous becoming and the marginalization to which she is exposed for not being part of the binary framework of gender. This study offers an open interpretation of gender and its fluidity from the subjective experience of the lyric speaker and it reveals how the symbolic order and the order of representations operates against her to expose her to a precarious life.
