DEPREDACIÓN DE LA GALLARETA COMÚN Gallinula galeata (RALLIDAE) POR UNA GARZA NOCTURNA CORONINEGRA Nycticorax nycticorax

Se reporta la depredación de una cría de Gallareta Común Gallinula galeata (Rallidae) por un adulto de Garza Nocturna Coroninegra Nycticorax nycticorax (Ardeidae) en la laguna de Yahuarcocha, un humedal andino de la provincia de Imbabura, Ecuador. Un adulto de N. nycticorax capturó y consumió un polluelo de G. galeata de aproximadamente 15 días de edad. Este evento diurno es el primer reporte de depredación entre estas especies y documenta la depredación aviar en colonias mixtas altoandinas.
