Abstract
A few months ago, young Guayaquilians Daniel Molina and Carlos Serrano, promoters of the group "Los Indignados", tried to register a donkey as a candidate for the National Assembly. The news was even transmitted by several international agencies. The Twitter account, @donburro, in a few hours had more than 5,000 followers and today has more than 30,000.[1] Thus, Don Burro has become a political mediator; a substitute for invalid or blank votes; an emblem of those who feel misrepresented and an object of humorous criticism of politics.
