Abstract

We report the first record of partial leucism in the Pied-billed Grebe (Podilymbus podiceps) in Mexico City. The observation took place on May 15, 2025, at Lake of the Aztec Kings, Tláhuac. The individual exhibited extensive partial leucism, with approximately 80% of plumage lacking melanin and an asymmetric distribution of white feathers, while eyes and legs retained normal pigmentation. This finding expands the known distribution of plumage abnormalities in the species.
