Challenging Barriers and Claiming Rights: Access to Justice for People with Disabilities in Guatemala

This text analyzes the considerations, from the constitutionality block and conventionality control, on access to justice in Guatemala. At the same time, a critical balance is presented, more than a decade after the State of Guatemala ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, from a social, guaranteeing, and protective conception. In this sense, the main violations of access to justice for people with disabilities are evident, based on three scenarios: lack of optimal conditions, deficient public policies, and systemic-structural.
