Submission Short Articles

SUBMISSION SHORT ARTICLES

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published.
  • The submission file is in PDF or Microsoft Word format.
  • Wherever possible, URLs are provided for references.
  • The text has single line spacing; 12 point font size; italics are used instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed at the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines , which appear in About the journal.
  • The manuscript is not in a project format. Again, it must adhere to the format specified in our Guide for Authors.

Author Guidelines

Submissions only accepted through our website. Please, consider the following guidelines when preparing your manuscript.

Short Articles

Short articles are produced at an undergraduate level limited to 10 pages (without considered tables and graffics) that cover topics about:

Economics

Finance

Other social sciences

Mathematical and Quantitative Methods related to social sciences.

ARTICLE STRUCTURE

Note: Short articles do not contain abstract or keywords.

Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Number subsections as 1.1 (and then 1.1.1, 1.1.2, ...) followed by 1.2, etc.

- Use the numbering format when cross-referencing within your article; avoid simply referring to the “text.”

- Subsections may be given a short title, which should appear on a separate line.

Title Page

The following details need to be included in the title page information:

- Article Title: Article titles should be concise and informative. Avoid abbreviations and formulas whenever possible unless they are established and widely understood (e.g., DNA).

- Author Names: Indicate the first and last name of each author. The order of authors must match the order in the submission system. Check carefully that all names are spelled correctly. If necessary, you can add your name in parentheses in your own writing after transliteration into English.

- Affiliations: Add affiliation addresses referencing where the work was performed below the authors' names. Indicate affiliations using a lowercase superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the corresponding address. Be sure to provide the full mailing address for each affiliation, including the country name and, if available, the email address of each author.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments should be collected before the References, in a separate segment. Individuals who provided support in tasks like writing assistance, proofreading, language advice, etc. should be listed here.

References

Full references should be provided following the style of The USFQ Economic Review. The style of citations and references will be in APA 7th Edition (the latest version). Please, meticulously check the Article Format section of this guide for further details on References.

ARTICLE FORMAT

Please submit your complete paper as a PDF document. We highly recommend you use LaTeX as your word-processing package. When creating the PDF file, ensure the mathematical symbols and equations in the entire document appear correctly.  In addition, please spell-check your document before submission.

The general format used should be in 1-inch margins, font size 12, Times New Roman, with 1.5 line spacing. This applies to the entire manuscript, including the Acknowledgments and Appendices.

Equations or Formulae

Equations should be typed centered in separate lines, and numbered consecutively at the left margin, using Arabic numbers in parentheses. Keep in mind that equations are part of paragraphs, so proper punctuation should be used at the end of each equation line.

Editable text is required for mathematical equations (not images). We encourage the use of LaTeX as your word-processor package since it may facilitate the input of equations and the revision and editing processes.

If necessary, complete calculations may be sent in an alternative PDF document to the reviewers (this will not be published) or may be included in the appendices as part of the article.

Figures

All figures must be cited within the main text, in consecutive order using Arabic numerals (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.). Figure titles and legends should be placed after the paragraph of their first citation. Each figure should contain annotations to understand its content. Such annotations should be place below the figure, just after its numbering (Figure 1: Title. Annotations to clarify the figure’s content).

Make sure all the content in the figures is readable (be careful with image resolution and font size). If needed, any relevant copyright information and a statement of authorization must be included.

Tables

Tables should be submitted as editable text rather than images. Tables should be included in the article next to appropriate material. All tables must be cited within the main text and numbered with Arabic numerals in consecutive order (e.g., Table 1, Table 2, etc.). Any table annotations should be placed below the table content following the same description as in the case of figures.

Generally, tables should not include vertical lines, colored text, or color to denote meaning (since it will not display the same on all devices).

References

References must follow The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA): 7th Edition.  All referenced and cited text might be in the reference list.  Please, consider the following specifications:

Data references: underlying or relevant datasets can be cited via the Reference List. Please, follow the correspondent APA (7th edition) guidelines.

We encourage you to use bibliographic software when building your reference list. Make sure when using bibliographic software, select "APA Author-Date."

Use Of Footnotes/ Endnotes

If required, footnotes should be in Times New Roman, size 10. These should be numbered consecutively throughout the article. Indicate the position of footnotes in the text and present the footnotes themselves separately at the end of the article.

Proofs

Page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author by email. To ensure the prompt publication of your research work, we kindly ask that corrections, as well as answers to any queries are returned to the editors as an annotated PDF via e-mail within 48 working hours (further details will be supplied with the proof). It is the author's responsibility to check proofs meticulously.
