Abstract

This academic paper analyzes the characteristics of the consumption of memes about covid-19, with a focus on the behavior of millennials. Through this study, several questions and reflections emerge, leading us to validate the meme as a communicative channel that can inform without abandoning its humorous essence. For this, six Ecuadorian meme accounts were analyzed. These were chosen for their level of popularity and for the interaction that millennials had with them. The research specifically focused on studying memes as elements of misinformation. However, the results show that if memes are used with a specific intention, they can become informative.
