Abstract

The research analyzes two of the newspapers with the highest circulation and representation in the country, such as: El Comercio in the Inter-Andean Region and El Universo in the Litoral region. The study deals with the information processing or misinformation derived from the "gender violence" news topic during the quarantine and the sanitary emergency in Ecuador, due to COVID-19 pandemic, in the period from April to June 2020. Through critical discourse analysis, we examined variables that could be set in the news from the two digital portals, linked to gender violence, to size the media narratives that show a patriarchal and sexist bias in the information treatment.
