Transformations, challenges and “pending debts”
Main Article Content
Abstract
Journalism is undergoing profound transformations that extend beyond technology or artificial intelligence, affecting its narratives, practices, working conditions, and social role. The articles in this volume address topics ranging from the use of transmedia strategies in media and social networks to analyses of news coverage, migration, climate change, and emotional representations in X. They also highlight the vulnerabilities of local and regional journalists, especially women, revealing risks, precarious working conditions, and a lack of state protection. Furthermore, the strategic use of X in Ecuadorian politics is examined, as well as the challenges posed by AI in visual production, which can reproduce stereotypes or blur the lines between reality and artificially generated content. Overall, the volume reflects a journalistic field that needs to adapt, protect its professionals, and champion more inclusive and pluralistic narratives.
