Content analysis on TikTok during the 2024 referendum campaign in Ecuador

Abstract
The Ecuadorian government uses TikTok as a communication tool to strengthen its image of power and authority in the 2024 referendum and referendum campaign. Through the “theatricality of power,” the videos disseminated on this platform deploy a visual and discursive strategy aimed at legitimizing the government’s role, representing the military and police as protectors of the citizenry and justifying the use of state violence as a resource to guarantee public security
