Call for Papers Closing #PerDebate Volume 10
Posted on 2026-07-07The Journalism Program of the College of Communication and Contemporary Arts (COCOA) at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) invites journalists, researchers, academics, graduate students, and communication professionals to submit manuscripts for Volume 10 of the academic journal #PerDebate.
This special edition celebrates a decade of scholarly publications dedicated to journalism research and critical reflection. We welcome original research articles, unpublished journalistic works, and scholarly essays addressing the major challenges shaping contemporary journalism and communication.
Submissions may focus on, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Fact-checking and conspiracy theories.
- Disinformation and information disorders.
- Journalism, public health, science, and medicine.
- International politics and geopolitics.
- Personal branding and journalists' digital identity.
- Artificial intelligence and the transformation of journalism.
- Innovation in journalistic storytelling.
- Environmental, migration, and sports journalism.
Submission deadline: July 19, 2026.
Manuscripts are accepted in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Submission Requirements- Original academic research.
- Unpublished journalistic works (feature stories, reports, interviews, profiles, chronicles, among others).
- Scholarly essays reflecting on journalism and its evolving practices.
- Academic manuscripts must follow APA Style.
- Abstracts of up to 200 words.
- Full papers must not exceed 20 pages (maximum 9,000 words, including references, tables, and appendices).
- Authors' names, institutional affiliations, and contact information must be submitted in a separate document.
- All submissions must be registered through the journal's online platform and comply with the Author Guidelines.
All manuscripts will be evaluated by the journal's editorial committee and subsequently undergo a double-blind peer review process. Accepted papers will be published in Volume 10 of #PerDebate, the open-access, digital academic journal of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (ISSN 2588-0896), and presented during the International Journalism in Debate Conference 2026.
