Call for Papers Volume 10 of the #PerDebate monograph series: sound narratives, health, innovation
Posted on 2026-01-23The Journalism Department of the College of Communication and Contemporary Arts at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) invites journalists, journalism professors, and communication scholars to submit abstracts of academic papers for publication in the tenth volume of the #PerDebate monograph series.
This publication compiles proposals related to the theme of the XV International Congress Journalism in Debate 2025, held from November 12 to 14, 2025, in Quito, Ecuador. The central theme of the event was: SOUND NARRATIVES, HEALTH, INNOVATION.
In the era of disinformation and artificial intelligence, journalism is more necessary than ever to understand the phenomena that are transforming society. The 2025 congress addressed sports journalism, environmental and migration coverage, artificial intelligence, and information disorders as its central themes.
For the tenth volume of this monograph series, celebrating a decade of publications, we are seeking research and/or reflective articles on the following themes and related lines of discussion:
- Verification/Conspiracy Theories: Strategies for combating disinformation in the digital age. Digital and media literacy to confront information overload.
- Disinformation: Strategies and exploration of the production, dissemination, and amplification of false, misleading, or decontextualized content circulating in digital and traditional environments, with or without the deliberate intention of causing harm.
- Health: Analysis of content in the fields of public health, science, and medicine, especially in the context of health crises.
- International Politics: Research on global political scenarios, geopolitical conflicts, electoral processes, and international relations.
- Personal Branding: Critical reflection on the construction of the digital identity of journalists, communicators, and content creators in environments of high information exposure.
- Transforming Journalism: Its Evolution in the Face of Technological Advancement and the Challenges of Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, and Other Factors.
This is a call for submissions of scientific articles or academic papers aligned with the themes outlined in this call. Submissions may be in English, Portuguese, or Spanish. The call is open until Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Acceptance decisions will be made by an external editorial committee and will be communicated up to one month after the closing date of the call. The authors of the selected academic works will be listed in the publication credits with their academic and/or professional credentials.
Once articles are accepted, applicants will be notified to continue the review process through blind peer review and to follow the editing process. The selected texts will be included in the ninth volume of the #PerDebate monograph series from the Journalism Department at USFQ, which will be presented during the next international congress, Journalism in Debate, in November 2026.
