How do artists interfere in modes of representation such as ethnography that have been shaped by modernity? While "pre-globalization" Western capitalist enterprises operated through modernization and fostered the exploitation of natural environments throughout Latin America, modernity, as a Eurocentric mode of knowledge, coupled the body of the Other with nature, ultimately reproducing perverse essentialist discourses linked to colonization.
