Abstract

This text reflects on the audiovisual from the Political Economy of Communication, which is a critical current of thought that has been transforming since the 1970s to address the complexity of cultural industries. Television has peculiarities that make it "the only cultural industry in the strict sense". For its high concentration of media ownership, it is also a market where interdisciplinary studies on information plurality are required.
