Abstract

The retrograde filling material used in apicoectomy nowadays is the MTA, but in search of the ideal material, a new cement called Biodentine has been introduced to the market. This study had as an objective to evaluate and to compare the apico-coronal microleakage of MTA degree, with a Digital Stereo Microscope and Biodentine as a retrograde filling material. The results indicated that a 3 hour immersion using Biodentine, has a higher efficiency, up to 18,85%, compared to the MTA. And 6 hours of immersion using Biodentine, has a higher efficiency up to 19%, compared to the MTA. In conclusion, the longer is the immersion, the bigger is the difference of cement microfiltration resistance, having the Biodentine better sealing properties over time.
